Annie is a fun-loving six-year-old with the loudest, most infectious laugh. She’s easygoing, adventurous, and always finds a way to have fun. The day after her fifth birthday, Annie was diagnosed with cancer. What her family thought was the flu turned out to be something far more serious, and within a day she was flown to a children’s hospital. “We were shocked and devastated. You never think something like this will happen to your child,” said her mom, Stefanie. Annie underwent surgery to remove her kidney and tumour, along with 19 rounds of chemotherapy and seven rounds of radiation.
Today, Annie is in remission and thriving. She’s back to gymnastics, skating, and playing with her friends. Throughout treatment, she has dreamed of going to her favourite theme park – watching ride videos in the hospital and deciding which attraction would be her first stop.
